Topic: Low volume

Hi, I got the iRig cable and it works, but the guitar volume is low, and playing along with a backing track I'm not able to hear the guitar sound. Any issue about that? The rest of feedback is highly positive, this is a wonderful app with some really useful features, I would buy it if I could pump up the volume, and have 2 separate controls for the song volume and guitar volume. One of the best ting of this app is the very low level of noise compared with Amplitube and the chance to play along with the library songs. It could be improved with a registration feature. Thanks for your app and for the time you spend to answer.

Re: Low volume

Hi Docrock,

Great post with some good topics in it.

When we play the tunes from your library, the *only* way to control its volume is with the global volume controls (buttons on the side of your device). This also directly affects the guitar's volume, of course. So we can't really have a "tunes volume" control other than your buttons.

We *can* however have a guitar volume control, and in fact will have such a control starting with the next version of iShred LIVE. It will let you boost or reduce the guitar's volume by 12 dB.

And just to check, are you getting a nice, hot input signal (as shown by the input meter)?

Also, what do you mean by "a registration feature?" Do you mean registering an e-mail address so we can send you notifications?

Re: Low volume

Hi Charlie, thanks for your kind and quick answer. Please, do not consider my last thought, it has been a mistake due to my mothertongue. I would mean "recording" feature, but registering with our email is really a good idea. Answering your question, yes I do have a very good input signal, but when I try to listen to a song and play along, the guitar sound is lower than the music sound. I look forward for the new feature. I'm spending a great time during my vacations with your app, I will buy some effects when I will be check the new volume feature, thanks again. I go ahead to test your app and I will give you my feedback. Greetings fronte Italy.

Re: Low volume

Well, I appreciate your quite fine English. My Italian is non-existent.  :-(

Ah, and "recording." As they say on TV and radio, "stay tuned."  :-)

Re: Low volume

iShred Live Team

I aggree.... here is my input...

Just received my Griffin cable today and started to evaluate the cable and your app.

The app needs an input level adjust separate from the music level.  Two reasons, one - not all guitar pickups have level output adjustment (bridge pickup on my D-35), two - I tried my electric, turned the volume all the way up and it was just barely clipping (red led on your meter), but I could barely hear the guitar over the audio file (song).  Your volume control affects both, they need to be separate.

Re: Low volume

I love this app.  It is the only app I have found for the guitar/bass that lets me play along with all songs on my ipod touch.  The only issue is that I cannot set a good volume balance between the instrument and the MP3.

Is this a limitation of using the built in music interface?  I am getting good level in, and don't really need to boost the guitar as much as I need to lower the music.

Can you add a slider to pan (mix) from instrument to MP3?  With that the app would be perfect.

Thanks for your hard work

Re: Low volume

The short answer is the next version adds a volume control to boost your guitar sound.

The long answer is that the current iOS doesn't offer the ability to adjust the volume of the media playback in relationship to everything else: it's tied into the master volume. So we've added our own master volume to punch up the audio in the app, which helps in coming up with a good mix between the two.

Re: Low volume

I understand, it is great you can use the built in engine for MP3 playback beacuse I can create playllists of stuff I want to practice and then select them.

My only concern is that is 12dB going to overdrive the guitar audio?  I am using this for bass and distortion would be a drag.

Is multi-tasking an option?  Could your player stay open to allow the guitar sound in an out, but then let you switch to the music player to play and control music?

Re: Low volume

PS. Has a release date been set for next version?

Thanks

Re: Low volume

It's getting closer, wrapping up the features and tuning performance.

Re: Low volume

maybe is possible to control volume copying the mp3 track into ishred live app... it will increase the memory storage, but i think is better control the track volume instead increase up to 12 db the guitar sound (distortions?)

great app, ive the cable too:)

Re: Low volume

BTW, the update with Guitar volume control is in the store now.  Check it out and see how it works for you.
