I suspect the problem might be in how you are trying to play them. Once you've selected the song you don't use the "Player" but instead the "Recorder" however backwards that might seem to be. The player is for playing music from your iTunes/Backing audio along while you are playing guitar (a good way to learn & practice). The recorder is for making and playing back guitar recordings.

We should really rename that. ":^)

Let me know if that's not the issue.

In iShred LIVE?  I just searched and that phrase isn't anywhere in the app. Maybe it's from somewhere else? Could you take a screenshot and send it to support @ frontierdesign . com?

ahhh, the suspense!

Sorry to see your message get cut off.

We haven't heard of anyone else having difficulty purchasing lately. A few weeks ago someone was having a hard time and they found that a power cycle of the device fixed things up.

Let us know what's up and if that fixes it or not.

Wow, great story!

So, the problem you are having is that the song isn't being shared on AirPlay? This is using GuitarStudio and you are signed in (i.e. go to Playlist, hit the network button bottom, second from right)?

Are you running the newest version and are you seeing the Share button in the record panel (we moved it recently). Just trying to figure out what part of the process isn't working for you, any other details would be great.

Noise Gate used to be called Buzz Kill and was an effect on the main screen in older versions of iShred LIVE. As of version 2.3.0 and later it is now on its own screen and called Noise Gate.

Click the MORE button in the bottom right and you'll find Noise Gate in the list of other screens. There's a small "i" in the upper left corner of that screen which will bring up a quick help overlay and there's a button there labelled "help" which brings up a more detailed help page.

One thing you might try is tweaking the Noise Gate or doing a new AutoSet. There's a help section covering it which describes the controls and how they effect your overall sound along with any incoming noise.

BTW, I replied to your support email. If you don't see it check the spam folder.

If you are interested we could send a test version with some built in diagnostics (it would collect the crash log).  If so, email us: support at frontierdesign.com

I'd suggest deleting the app and then re-downloading from the app store, just to make sure you get the newest version. There was a bug with version 2.3.0, which we fixed in 2.3.1.

That's not to say you haven't found a new bug with your particular setup, but we haven't heard any other reports or found problems in our internal testing.

Is there a reason you haven't updated to iOS 4.x or even 5? iOS 3.2 is pretty old and there's been a lot of great bug fixes and features added since then.

If you'd like to send us a crash log we could dig into this further. Just email it to us at support@frontierdesign.com

Here's how to find the crash logs:

Have you checked the preamp/electronics to make sure the battery has enough power and the level is high enough? That's really the only issue we've seen with electric acoustics not working ... unless the cable isn't quite making contact.

Hey everyone, the update is now live and ready for download. Very sorry about the hassle and wait.

Happy holidays and keep on shredding!

I hope it gets updated very quickly too and we're really sorry about this. It seems to work on devices running iOS 5, if upgrading the OS is an option for you.

Yes, we do. In the last updates we messed up and let slip some code (SoundCloud for one) that isn't compatible with < 3.2 OS. So we've fixed that and one other problem and have resubmitted to the app store. Hopefully it'll be approved before the holiday break.

Gotcha loud and clear.

We're thinking about it, we're designing it, we're writing code, we're experimenting, but no estimate yet on when it will be done and good enough to be in the app.

We fixed the bug, have been testing it, a few sanity checks and then a submit to the store. Hopefully they aren't inundated by apps trying to squeeze in before the app store dev interface closes down on the 22nd.

Well, that's the other bit of bad news. We ended up having to remove the PowerPack option in order to get Apple to approve the update (which in turn ended up being related to the crashing bug. Not the best of weeks/updates for our app.).

Oh, man, you are right. I have no idea how that slipped through ... although we had to submit that version to Apple three times before it got approved (for other reasons).

We'll get this fixed, tested, and a new version in the store as soon as possible.

Phew!  ":^)

Thanks for the update.

Hi Bob,

You are getting a crash when trying to open the iPod section of the music player? Or is it when you select a song? Running an iPhone 4S here, with version 2.0.1 of iShred I am able to open and play songs from that so just trying to figure out what might be different with your setup.

Earlier in this thread I posted a link on how to find the crash logs and where to send them. Please do that and we'll try to figure out what's going on here.

If you aren't getting anything in voice app, then it's not an app/iOS issue. You can confirm this by verifying iShred LIVE works with an iPhone headset w/mic.

Basically the iPhone/iPod/iPad hardware detects if there is a microphone attached to the device using some resistance checks across ground and the outer contact (mic) of the four pin connector. If for some reason the cable & guitar combo doesn't provide that, then the iOS device won't detect it as a "mic" and won't deliver audio to any apps.

What guitar are you using? Is it an electro-acoustic by any chance?

Also, which cable(s): Griffin's Guitar Connect and if so is it the newer version?

I'm really sorry to hear that. What version of the OS are you using?

If you have the time we'd love to see one or both of the app's crash logs. Here's instructions on getting them:
http://aplus.rs/apple/how-to-find-crash … ta-and-xp/

Send it to our support@frontierdesign.com email address and I'll dig into it.

Version 2.0 of iShred is now available. Fixes the music player issue as well as provide a bunch of new features to explore!

That is weird.

I noticed while testing that even after signing out of the store it would still show that account in a sign-in dialog, but not let me actually sign in. Thought it was more related to the developers sandbox, but apparently not.

Hmm... less fun, we'll go on an off-site team building exercise and see what we can come up with! ":^)

Just re-buy them with the same account. Apple will first ask if you want to re-buy, then will report that you already own them and would you like to re-download.

In 2.3 of iShred LIVE (coming within days!) we offer a couple options to automatically restore past purchases.
