Topic: Weird behavior, can't play Guitar

Hi Frontier,

I know this is possible the wrong place to post this but I couldn't find a support-email-address.

I own both iShred and Guitar (the big versions). Suddenly 'Guitar' displayed a badge. As it turnes out it's a new news item (thanks for spamming my homescreen btw.) Anyway, when I now open the app the keys are all blank (no chords) an when I select 'Playlist' from the menu the app crashes.

The badge remained although I read the newsitem and restarted the app several times, it went only away after choosing 'Airplay'. Now the problem still is that I can't play any songs because I can't select one.

Could you please help me, I don't won't to re-install as I'd loose all my songs and chords. Thank you very much.

Hi Antonio,

I guess the first question is have you cycled the power on the device? (i.e. hold down the top sleep button until you see the "slide to power off" control).

Also, have you setup a backup account to backup your songs and sequences to our server?  This will help should you ever need to re-install the app or want to move the songs to another device.

News shouldn't have anything to do with this, it sounds like a low memory condition. Let us know what you discover and we'll try to help from there.

I ended up deleting the app and syncin it back to the device. That solved the problem for now. (I'm anxiously awaiting the next news-item...)

Yes, I tried to turn the phone off, didn't change a thing, also iShred worked perfectly fine the whole time Guitar acted weirdly and I use a 3GS so the low-memory-theory seems doubtful.

And although you might disagree, my best guess is that it has something to do with the newsitem not being registered as 'read' correctly. It displayed the badge again just now, although the news are already read. It only goes away after choosing 'Airplay'.

I'll make sure to backup my sequences in the future, thanks for your help.

Great to hear you got it back running again. I've passed the info on to the devs, maybe we can replicate it or find something in that area of the code. This is the first report of the problem so far.

Here's my weird behavior... I used this program on a weekly basis in my private teaching with my 3G with zero problems. When I smashed the screen a couple months ago I moved up to a 3GS and the problems began. There is now a huge lag when changing from chord to chord. I tried restarting the phone so there was fresh memory and that didn't work. Then I deleted the program (I'll know next time I decide to do that to have my custom chord progressions backed up!) and reinstalled it from the App Store, then rebooted the phone, and still the lag is there. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear about your dead 3G. And OK, I have to agree. That's weird. I don't think we've seen this before.

So when you write about a "huge lag" can you be a little more specific? Is it 1 sec? 0.1 sec? Is the lag both visual and audible? What OS are you running? Is there anything "unusual" about your device and how you use it? Has it ever been jailbroken? (Grasping for some lead here.)
