Hi All,
After the installation of the software in my macpro (OSX 10.6.3) i have notice that my frontier design alpha track was not working with my system !!
When i connect the alpha track the alpha track manager status is not available
if i connect the alpha track on my macbook with 10.5.8 no problem all is working fine
Anyone have experience about it ???

Same here, not working at all! The alpha track manager status says "available" on mine though. I am running Logic Pro 9.1.1 and Leopard 10.6.3 on a 2008 Mac Pro. Perhaps I have overlooked something.
The documentation is not really clear (10.3.9 or later) so could someone let us know if this will not work...
I am currently using an old iControl and was really looking forward to a fader. Probably have to bring it back.

The AlphaTrack will work in Snow Leopard running LP 9.1.1.
fabiotto, if you're plugged into a USB hub, I'd try bypassing it and plug directly into your computer to see if that helps. It may not be getting enough power to be recognized by the computer. I'd make sure you have the latest drivers from our site and make sure that the AlphaTrack is unplugged when these drivers are installed. When you plug in your AlphaTrack does the AlphaTrack icon pop up on your computer screen?
deltonfoster, you will most likely need to go to our site (AlphaTrack downloads page) and get the AlphaTrack/Logic plug-in and place it into Logic's "midi device plug-ins" folder. The 'midi device plug-ins' folder can be found if you CTRL+click on the Logic icon (*in your mac's applications folder) then select 'show package contents' then select 'contents' and finally 'midi device plug-ins'. Then you should be able to find the AlphaTrack in Logic/Preferences/Control surfaces/Setup.

Hi CS,
I did just that, (updated driver and Logic Plugin) for some reason it is not working. I will try the whole process again and see if it takes. It does not show up in my: preferences>control surfaces>setup screen though.

You may want to make sure that you're CTRL+clicking on the correct Logic version (in your mac's applications folder). You'd be surprised how many people place a plug-in in the wrong program or the wrong version's folder. Also, after you place the plug-in try launching Logic from the applications folder. If you launch from the dock, it's possible that the dock is launching a different version of Logic as well.

Okay, I will double check. I just had to re-install Logic due to a hard drive failure so I only installed Logic 9.
So once I install the driver (AT not plugged in) and install the Midi driver placed in the proper folder it should just work? No other tweaks that need to be made? I think in my case the iControl is wreaking havoc. I can't seem to get rid of it, pop ups, etc. Every time I connect the AT it insists that i connect the iControl.
I will be back in the studio this afternoon and will give it a try again.

My Alpha Track is plug in directly to the Mac Pro (no USB hub)
I have installed the latest driver 1.3 with the Alpha Track unplugged from the mac and after restart i plugged in the alpha track but no pop up appear on the computer

Incredible, you nailed it! Wrong version of Logic. I still have LP9 9.0.0 needed to install the AT plug in 9.1.1

I am unable to select aux and master faders with the AT, am I again missing something?
Sure,
All you need to do is CTRL+click on the aux track or master track and select 'create/select Arrange track'. The AlphaTrack will only be able to 'see' tracks in the 'Arrange' view. So by creating these tracks in the arrange view you'll be able to access them with the AT.

Ok, this means the drivers didn't install properly. Can you tell me exactly how you're installing the drivers? Just to make sure you can actually throw away the CD that came with your AlphaTrack. Everything on that CD is available on our site but I recall having a customer that thought he was installing the latest drivers but he had the CD (with older drivers) in his CD rom and every time he tried installing the newer drivers it would, instead, take the drivers from the CD; so just get rid of the CD and let me know exactly how you're installing the drivers. Other than drivers not being properly installed the only other thing I can think of is that the AlphaTrack isn't getting power. Does the AlphaTrack LCD screen light up when you plug it in? Does the AlphaTrack still work on your other computer?

There is one other thing, fabiotto. Is it possible that you're using the 64-Bit kernel in your Mac Pro? If so, try switching to the 32-Bit kernel. Our latest drivers don't yet support the 64-Bit kernel.

I install the driver from the download files taken on the frontier design web site.
when i plug the AT on the macpro the LCD lights up and for two second shows"alpha track" after that the LCD don't shows nothing.
the kernel that i use i 32 bit and if i connect the AT on another computer it works perfect with both systems 10.5.8 - 10.4.11

Problem Solved !!!
The problem was the kernel setting that on 64 bit and not 32 bit
After i switch on the 32 bit the AT starts working perfectly as usual !!
