The Playlist

To change the Playlist, first tap the General Menu button General Menu in the lower left of the main screen and select "Playlist" from the pop-up menu list. Your playlist then appears. The currently selected song shows up near the middle with a check mark to its right. You can now select a song, create a new song, delete a song, and reorder the songs in the playlist. (This screen also gives you access to web-based backup and retrieval of your songs. That is described in a separate help chapter on Backup) When you are finished changing the playlist, go back to the main screen by tapping the "Done" button in the upper right corner.

Selecting a Song

Just tap your finger on the name of the song you want to select. Its row is briefly highlighted in blue and the checkmark appears to its right. If you can't see the song you want to select because it is off-screen, swipe a finger up or down over the song names to scroll through the list of all songs to find it.

Creating, Deleting, and Reordering Songs

At the bottom of the Playlist screen is a toolbar with five icons. These icons are for:

  • Creating a New Song
  • Deleting the Selected Song
  • Editing Song Comments
  • Backing Up and Retrieving Songs
  • Reordering the Songs
Tool Bar

To create a new song, just tap the "Plus" icon of the left of the toolbar. A new song called "New Song" will be created and selected just after the previously selected song. (If you already have a song called "New Song" then a number suffix will be added to the new song name to make it unique.) By the way, you can also create a new song directly on the main screen by tapping the General Menu button General Menu and selecting "New Song."

Deleting a song is just as simple. Select the song that you want to delete by tapping its name in the Playlist, then tap the "Trashcan" icon in the toolbar. An message will appear asking you to confirm that you want to delete the song. Tap "Delete" to complete the deletion. Note that the All Songs playlist must contain at least one song. You cannot delete the last song left.

Every song can have text comments saved with it. You can read and alter these comments via the Playlist screen. First select the song whose comments you want to see, then tap the "Comments" icon. (This is the icon that looks like a square with a pencil on it.)

Once you tap the song comment icon, the comment text appears (it might be blank) with a keyboard below it. If there is a lot of text, you can scroll the comments up and down with your finger. You can also hold your finger down on the text to more the insertion point (where text will be entered if you start typing.) When you are done reading or changing the comments, tap the "Done" button in the upper right corner to return to the Playlist screen.

The next icon on the bottom toolbar takes you to screens for wireless backup and retrieval of your songs. That is described in detail in the Backup help chapter.

The songs can be reordered in any fashion you wish. To reorder them, first tap the "Reorder" icon on the far right of the Playlist toolbar. To the right of each song title, a "grabber" icon will appear. Touch and drag that icon up and down to move that song up and down in the playlist. When you are done reordering the songs, tap the icon on the right of the toolbar and the "grabbers" disappear.
